It was short, but I had a fantastic time. My friend Alex and I spent the weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and the weather could not be more perfect.
We thought about changing our plans when reports earlier in the week told of wild fires in the area. We decided to chance it and I’m pleased that we did.
We left Saturday just after 7:00am and arrived at Myrtle Beach just before 11:00pm- stopping along the way for breakfast. Alex’s family own a condo that overlooks the beach. It was so beautiful this morning watching the sun rise over the ocean. It reminded me so much of my time in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.
We spent most of Saturday on the beach- I’m a little sun burned. We returned to the condo about 4, showered, got dressed, and headed to Captain George’s for dinner- they have a wonderful all you can eat seafood buffet. And boy did we eat.
After dinner, we decided to waste a little time and play a few rounds of miniature golf before heading out to the club. We arrived at ‘Time Out’ around 10:00pm. There weren’t many people at the club when we got there, but by mid-night the place was pack. We did a lot of dancing and got back to the condo shortly past 2:00am. I set my alarm for 6, because I wanted to see the sun rise. It was so well worth it. Trust me, my butt was back in bed soon after I caught a glimpse of the gorgeous horizon. Alex and I didn’t get out of bed until shortly after 11am.
We headed back to the beach and walk along the surf before grabbing a bite to eat for lunch. We did a little shopping and finally returned to the condo to pack our stuff and head back. Traffic was a mess and it took us nearly 4 1/2 hours to get back, but it was well worth it.
So for those Claymates who thought I disappeared, not a chance. After three years, you should know that I come out of hibernation and “disappear” when the weather turns warm.
