News round-up for 10.19.2009
Oct 19th, 2009 by John Paulus

Nancy Pelosi

Well there’s a lot in the news again today.   It appears Nancy Pelosi, who was so fond of quoting Bush’s approval numbers, has numbers that are below the former President.  In a recent poll, only 34% of Californians approved of the Speaker’s performance.  I’m pretty sure we won’t be hearing much about those numbers from the Speaker.

Chicago will be laying off thousands of non-union workers in order to make up for a budget shortfall.  The city can’t lay off union workers without the risk of being sued.  The sad thing is is that the expensive contracts that the city negotiated with the unions are part of the city’s budget problem. Aren’t unions just great.  After all, look what they’ve done for Michigan and Ohio’s economies.

Rhode Island is finally seeing the benefits of the massive stimulus bill passed by the Democrats earlier this year.  According to the government’s own website, a total of FOUR jobs were created in a state that has an unemployment rate of 13%.  Now that’s impressive.

The Obama administration continues to stall on a request by his Generals for more troops for Afghanistan.  This has so incensed Democrat Senator Robert Bryd that the 91 year old dragged himself out of bed to give a speech on the Senate floor.  Perhaps the Senator didn’t get the word that this President doesn’t have time to deal with Afghanistan when there’s fundraisers to be attended.

White House Communication Director Anita Dunn bragged to the Dominican government how the Obama administration controls the US media and how it controls what is reported.  Isn’t she just a wonderful Marxist.
