Like the front door lights, but larger, we chose this light for over the garage.

We chose this light to go on both sides of the front door.

These are the lights for the bathrooms except the master bathroom and the upstairs bathroom.

These pendant lights will go over the kitchen sink as well as the breakfast bar.

This will be the light for the foyer

This light will be for the breakfast nook.

This is the chandelier that was chosen for the dining room

This is the ceiling fan that will go in the family room.

There will be a set of two of these lights that will go above the mirrors in the master bathroom.

This is the brushed nickel chandelier that will hang in the center of the master bathroom.

Master Bedroom Ceiling Fan

Chic and yet contemporary
I spent yesterday afternoon with my mother picking out her lighting for the house. As I had wrote a month ago, our style would be that modern chic with a bit of 1950′s. We wanted to keep with the craftsman style of the home, but also wanted it to be… well, stylish. I really think we accomplished that with the lighting we chose. Since mom decided to go with oiled bronzed finishes in the house (door hinges/knobs, faucets, etc.) we thought that the lighting should compliment that. The only exceptions were in the master bedroom and upstairs rooms where we stayed with the brushed nickel hardware and chose the lighting to match. And no, we didn’t stay within mom’s lighting allowance. In fact, we completely ignored the allowance and the builder choice packages and went with what lighting we thought the house deserved to have.
Mom’s master bedroom and bath are being designed to have a different feel than the rest of the house with more of a chic contemporary feel. She went with the brushed nickel finishes on her faucets, towel and paper holders, lighting, etc. In her tray ceiling, she’s having the ceiling painted a light sky blue that will accent her latte colored walls.
The house is coming along nicely. All the primer has been sprayed. The tiling for the floor was being installed today. Next week, Thursday, the installation of the kitchen cabinets will begin followed by the bathroom cabinets and granite counter-tops. It’s been exciting watching mom’s house go from a field of grass to this beautiful home. And it’s equally exciting seeing all of our design changes and choices coming together. I’m glad that I’ve been able to share each step of the process with you.
