Pope Plot, I was wrong, You can’t say that

Muslims protest Pope visit

In London today, 6 Muslim men, working as street cleaners, were arrested in a plot to assassinate the Pope.  One would expect that some in the liberal academia will come forward to educate us on why it is necessary for us to fully understand why these men were motivated to carry out such a plot.  Surely, they will cite the Catholic Church’s transgressions against the peaceful people of the Islamic faith.

Every now and then I have to admit that I was wrong- and I was.  This time with regard to the Stimulus Bill not creating any jobs.  A recent audit by the Los Angeles Controller has confirmed that stimulus money in his city has created or retained 55 jobs… at a cost of $2 million a job.  Now that’s money well spent.  The audit says the numbers were disappointing due to bureaucratic red tape, absence of competitive bidding for projects in private sectors, inappropriate tracking of stimulus money and a laxity in bringing out timely job reports.

WJLA-TV in DC has fired veteran anchorman Doug McKelway for his coverage of a Capitol Hill demonstration by environmental groups protesting the influence of oil-industry contributions to members of Congress.  In his piece, McKelway said the sparsely attended event attracted protesters “largely representing far-left environmental groups.” He went on to say the protest “may be a risky strategy because the one man who has more campaign contributions from BP than anybody else in history is now sitting in the Oval Office, President Barack Obama, who accepted $77,051 in campaign contributions from BP.”  This didn’t sit well with his liberal news director and general manager, Bill Lord.  Lord took exception to McKelway’s reporting and asked to meet with him.  According to several station sources a shouting match between the two men ensued, leading to McKelway’s suspension and eventual firing, sources said.
