1. George Buckley, the CEO and Chairman of 3M, dubbed President Obama as “anti-business”. He continued saying, “I judge people by their feet, not their mouth,” he told the Financial Times. “We know what his instincts are – they are Robin Hood-esque.” Wow, that’s quite a comment from one of our nations leading CEOs.
2. You know, I really shouldn’t be surprised by this given the fact that Ted Kennedy was such a left-wing socialist, but in today’s Dailymail.com it reported that Ted Kennedy rented a brothel for a night while on an official visit to Chile, according to declassified FBI files. The late U.S. Senator is reported to have invited one of his chauffeurs to participate in the night’s ‘activities’ during the 1961 stay in the capital, Santiago. Mr Kennedy also supposedly insisted on meeting the ‘angry young men’ of South American countries he visited, and invited suspected communists to a U.S. embassy.
The declassified files include a memo from December 28, 1961, written by State Department officials describing the tour of Latin American countries taken by Mr Kennedy, then 29, and Assistant District Attorney of Suffolk County in New York. In Mexico he supposedly asked long-serving State Department diplomat Thomas Mann that ‘certain left-wingers be invited to the Embassy residence where interviews could be held’. The memo says Mann objected and insisted ‘that if any such interviews were to be conducted, all arrangements should be made by Mr Kennedy himself.’ He is also said to have sought a meeting with the economist Lauchlin Currie, who was suspected of spying for Russia. Are we seeing a pattern here?
The documents have been unveiled in full by Judicial Watch after a six-month battle. ‘The FBI’s reluctance to follow the law and release this material shows that it, too, is not above politics,’ said Tom Fitton, of Judicial Watch. Of course the Obama Administration did its best to prevent the information from being released. No doubt wanting to keep Kennedy’s questionable conduct secret.
3. Could Obama be more conniving? Today he publicly told Governors that he willing to allow them more flexibility as they cope with painful budget dilemmas. He declared that he would “go to bat for whatever works,” Obama said he supported letting states propose their own health care plans by 2014 — three years faster than the current law allows. But a source on a private White House conference call with liberal allies this morning says the Administration is presenting it to Democrats as an opportunity to offer more expansive health care plans than the one Congress passed.
Health care advisers Nancy-Ann DeParle and Stephanie Cutter stressed on the off-record call that the rule change would allow states to implement single-payer health care plans — as Vermont seeks to — and true government-run plans, like Connecticut’s Sustinet. This guy is a snake.
