Al Qaeda rebels in Libya, Caterpillar considers relocation

There are two intriguing stories today; Libyan rebels have links to Al Qaeda and Caterpillar  is considering moving out of Illinois.

–Nearly two weeks after he decided to bomb Libya, Obama is going to address the nation Monday.  Now that he’s been briefed, he’s going to tell the rest of us what our mission is in Libya and why he choose to bomb them in the first place.  At this point, the nation deserves more than a speech, it deserves a press conference where the President can be made to address some important questions.

For example, Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, the Libyan rebel leader, has said jihadists who fought against allied troops in Iraq are on the front lines of the battle against Muammar Gaddafi’s regime .*shakes head* Did you  read that right? The jihadists who killed are troops in Iraq are being supported by Obama’s bombing of Gaddafi’s forces.  And who are these, “jihadists”… According to, Mr al-Hasidi he insists his fighters “are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists,” but added that the “members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader.  There are no words.

A press conference, Mr. President, so we can ask you the important questions.

–Do you recall a few years ago Obama with his smoker’s smile stood by Caterpillar chief executive officer Doug Oberhelman and said to the nation that Caterpillar was evidence that the Stimulus Bill was creating jobs… two days later Caterpillar laid off a few hundred employees.  Well, there’s problems for the Illinois based company.  No, no, it’s not that the stimulus money has dried up.  It’s not that they can’t find buyers for their equipment.  It’s not that they can’t make tractors that Americans want to buy.  It seems that the increase tax burden by Democrat Governor Pat Quinn is forcing Caterpillar to considering moving their operation to another state.  CEO Oberhelman said in a letter to the Governor, ”I want to stay here. But as the leader of this business, I have to do what’s right for Caterpillar when making decisions about where to invest. The direction that this state is headed in is not favorable to business and I’d like to work with you to change that.”

How much evidence does a Democrat need before they realize that overtaxation and over regulation destroys jobs?  I’m perplexed by this.  One would imagine that even if one the most sophomoric of minds, one would know that the three main job killers in this country have been: 1. Overtaxation. 2. Over-regulation. 3. Union greed.  What is needed is a balance of all three to keep and maintain jobs.

If Obama is really concerned about creating jobs he should stop with signing Bills that throw money out the window and start by reducing the tax burden on corporations and companies that need it.  If only Caterpillar’s CEO owned NBC and was a friend of Barack maybe, just maybe he could avoid billions in taxes.
