I have to reiterate what Obama’s White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, “Even I’m getting confused”.
First we were told that Osama bin Laden used his wife as a human shield. Then we were told that Osama bin Laden resisted after being asked to surrender. Then we were told that Osama reached for a rifle as Seals entered the bedroom. Then we were told that Osama and Seals engaged in a firefight in the compound. Now we are being told that NONE of those things are true. So, to repeat what Jay Carney said, “even I’m getting confused”.
Politico is reporting that the White House is backing away from earlier claims by Deputy National Security Advisor David Brennan. The Defense Department is now saying that Osama was not armed and did not use his wife or any other woman as a human shield. These facts were repeated by Jay Carney this afternoon.
So why were we initially told that Osama used a woman as a human shield? Why were we told he reached for his gun? Why were we told he was shooting? I’ll tell you why- the order was given by the President of the United States to kill Osama bin Laden regardless. Obama did not want Osama bin Laden tried in a court of justice. Obama did not to risk the embarrassment and the headache of imprisoning and trying Osama. Obama meted out his own justice. He became jury, judge, and executioner.
As a former military soldier, I am well trained in the articles of the Geneva Convention. It is absolutely against international law to shoot an unarmed person. In fact, if one was to be engaged in a firefight and the enemy combative has been injured you are required to immediately perform first aid on that person.
It is becoming perfectly clear that Osama was not armed and therefore if he was killed Obama and those soldiers violated International Law. The only exception to this law is if Osama was assassinated by non-military personnel; the CIA.
Let me be clear, I’m not a liberal and I’m not for all of this international law crap. However, Obama does believe in international law. In fact, as a candidate he made a point of highlighting all of those perceived international law violations that President Bush and Vice-President Cheney were engaged in. It is my opinion that if one wants others to live by those international laws one must also abide and suffer the consequences of those laws.
If it is learned that Obama ordered the Navy Seals to assassinate Osama rather than bringing him to trial then I am calling for liberals and other like-minded Americans to demand for Obama’s impeachment and trial before the world court. This is an opportunity for liberals to demonstrate that they are grounded by their principles and ideology and not by party identity.
The White House must be feeling a little heat on the subject today, because Jay Carney said the decision to kill rather than capture bin Laden was made by forces on the ground, not by the White House, which earlier authorized the rehearsed raid. Sunday night’s speech by Obama one would have thought he was personally on the ground directing the operation, however, today the President, we are told didn’t make any ground decisions. I call BS. As a former Special Operations Operative, I can assure you without question or doubt that an unarmed Osama could have been taken alive especially, as we are now learning, if he was unarmed.
