Do you remember when Obama was ramming his Stimulus Bill down the throats of Americans claiming that it would save jobs. He was out at the Caterpillar Plant saying that the stimulus would help Caterpillar to hire more workers, a week later Caterpillar issued pink slips to some of its employees.
And then we have teacher Amanda VanNess who stood in the Oval Office and watched President Obama sign an education stimulus bill and was later laid off.
One got the impression that if Obama referenced you as an example of the success of one of his programs that you’d soon be doomed. Well…
Today I read that the Ohio restaurant mentioned last week by President Barack Obama as an indirect beneficiary of the government’s Chrysler bailout will close its doors Sunday after a more than 70-years business.
Co-owner Richard Lawrence of New Chet’s Restaurant in Toledo says that they have been forced to go out of business because of the economy and the workplace smoking ban approved by Ohio voters in 2006.
Richard Lawrence is really a victim of a greedy union who has sucked the blood out of the auto industry. Unions have forced car manufactures to ship jobs overseas just so they can compete. Often we hear the liberal lies that Detroit was making cars that nobody wanted, however, GM was the largest manufacture of cars and trucks in the world. Someone was purchasing those vehicles.
Small businesses like New Chet’s Restaurant were an indirect victim of Union greed. Liberals like to talk about corporate greed, because it buys them votes. It sounds great to the uninformed voter, “Corporate greed is shipping jobs overseas”. The collapse of GM and Chrysler proved that it corporate greed wasn’t to blame for their failure, union greed was. Unions that sucked these companies dry of their profits which didn’t allow them to weather any economic downturn.
Union greed has killed manufacturing in this country and its that union greed which is putting states, cities, and localities on the verge of bankruptcy today. Profits create jobs, unions destroy them.
