So much in the way of news today…

1.  The Justice Department on Monday charged a John Kiriakou, a Democrat staffer and former CIA officer with repeatedly leaking classified information, including the identities of agency operatives involved in the capture and interrogation of alleged terrorists.  Kiriakou was charged with disclosing classified information to reporters and lying to the agency about the origin of other sensitive material he published in a book.

2. Perhaps it those Hollywood fundraisers or days on the golf course, but the Obama White House told Congress on Monday that its budget will be late this year, meaning President Obama once again will miss the deadline set in law.  Congressional officials said the president now will send up his budget on Feb. 13, which is a week later than the usual date. The law requires the budget be sent by the first Monday in February.  Obama has not made the budget deadline since he’s taken office.

3.  Kesler Dufrene, an illegal immigrant,  became a twice-convicted felon in 2006, a Bradenton judge shipped him to prison for five years. And because of his convictions, an immigration judge ordered Dufrene deported to his native Haiti.  That never happened. The Obama administration ordered a temporary halt of deportations to the island nation.  As a result, when Dufrene’s state prison term was up, Miami immigration authorities in October 2010 released him from custody. Two months later, he slaughtered three people, including a 15-year-old girl in a murder case that remains as baffling today as it did the afternoon the bodies were discovered.

In the news…

1.  In an effort to placate his left wing liberal base, Obama has decided to shelve the Keystone Pipeline Project, costing thousands of jobs.  Environmental groups celebrated the move.  The jobless… well, that’s another story.

2.  Hollywood studio chiefs individually and as a group are drawing a line in the sand on the piracy issue with the Obama re-election campaign and refusing to give any more donations.  The blowup came after President Obama on Saturday dashed moguls’ hopes that he would remain on the sidelines in the dispute over the U.S. House Of Representatives’ Stop Online Piracy Act and the U.S. Senate’s Protect IP Act.

3.  A peek into the future… The Treasury on Tuesday started dipping into federal pension funds in order to give the Obama administration more credit to pay government bills.  “I will be unable to invest fully” the federal employees retirement system fund beginning Tuesday, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said in a letter to Democratic and Republican leaders in Congress.

-  Not surprisingly, Chicago dirty tactics are in full mode as Democrats work hard to derail Herman Cain from receiving the Republican Presidential nomination.  Speaking at a press conference in New York City and flanked by celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, Sharon Bialek, a Chicago resident who worked for the NRA from 1996 to 1997, said Cain suddenly reached out and grabbed her after drinks and dinner in Washington D.C. in the summer of 1997.  The Cain Campaign has vehemently denied the allegations.

-   A new survey data show that Occupy Wall Street protesters and supporters — as measured through visits to the movement’s principal website — are overwhelmingly white.  Harrison Schultz, who helped develop occupywallst.org, and Professor Hector R. Cordero-Guzman from the School of Public Affairs at Baruch College have been surveying visitors of the Occupy Wall Street website to get a sense of who makes up the movement. The two shared their data with Fast Company magazine.  The verdict? Occupy Wall Street is a predominantly white movement. Website visitors identified themselves as 81.2 percent white, 6.8 percent Hispanic, 2.8 percent Asian, and 1.6 percent black. Another 7.6 percent chose “other.”

-  The Obama economy is so bad that 77 percent of small business owners do not plan to hire any more workers despite all of Washington’s hype that the business climate is getting better. Worse: 64 percent of small business owners in a new survey provided to Whispers see the nation teetering on the verge of another recession.

-  Indications have increased during the past two years that the Democratic Party has been losing popularity — and here’s another. The portion of Americans identifying themselves as Democrats has dropped to 43 percent from 50 percent in early 2008, according to a new Gallup poll.   Meanwhile, the portion identifying themselves as Republicans has increased to 40 percent from 37 percent. The number of independents has risen to 15 percent from 12 percent. The Democratic Party also has turned more liberal. The survey showed that 37 percent of Democrats, which includes independents who lean Democratic, call themselves “liberal,” up from 35 percent in 2008.  Among Americans as a whole, the amount of conservatives rose to 42 percent from 40 percent, and the number of liberals slid to 21 percent from 22 percent, according to the poll, which has a margin of error of one percentage point.

-  A liberal vandalized a statue of Ronald Reagan.  A witness saw a suspect tie something around the top of the statue and the other end to the front of his vehicle. The witness said the suspect then got into his vehicle and put it in reverse in an attempt to pull the statue down.  The statue debuted last month during a dedication memorial to celebrate the former president’s 100th birthday.

- A Democratic legislator running for reelection in New York’s Monroe County has been immersed in controversy after naked photos of the legislator appeared on a website he uses for both personal and professional reasons. C. Sephen Eckel has admitted to posting the photos, and defends his right to do so as art.

-  According to the U.S. Census Bureau, a higher percentage of Americans is living in extreme poverty than they have ever measured before.  In 2010, we were told that the economy was recovering, but the truth is that the number of the “very poor” soared to heights never seen previously.

-  The largest banks are larger than they were when Obama took office and are nearing the level of profits they were making before the depths of the financial crisis in 2008, according to government data.  President Obama has called people who work on Wall Street “fat-cat bankers,” and his reelection campaign has sought to harness public frustration with Wall Street. Financial executives retort that the president’s pursuit of financial regulations is punitive and that new rules may be “holding us back.”  During Obama’s tenure, Wall Street has roared back, even as the broader economy has struggled.

-  Is Obama authentic?  Half liberal white, half Kenyan.  No slave blood, no inherent love for the USA.  Herman Cain’s mother was a maid, father worked 3 jobs.  They bought a house, raised educated kids.  An American success story.   Herman, 100 percent black, slave blood, hated by the left because he dares think free and be free- choosing conservative values over the poverty pimp democrat party.  Thus the lynching by racist liberals, who DEMAND he get on the democrat plantation where they can USE him.

-  Democrat Former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine is out of a job now that the Wall Street firm he headed, MF Global, has gone bankrupt, but don’t worry. He’ll be just fine.  Corzine has a couple of things to keep him out of the unemployment line. First, he’s a “great friend” and “ally” of President Barack Obama, as the president himself has said.  And second, he’s expected to receive a $12.1 million severance package — the kind of things that critics of Wall Street excess, like Obama, often call “golden parachutes.”

-  When asked for his response to ten executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac receiving $12.79 million in bonuses, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said a “gag reflex in front of all you would be improper, that’s how I feel about it.” Fannie and Freddie have received over $153 billion and counting in taxpayer money.  Republicans have called on Obama to cancel the bonuses.

-  Democrat voter fraud- it shouldn’t come as a surprise.  Whether showing up pretending to be Tea Partiers holding racist signs or leaking last minute lies about a Republican just before election day, Democrat have been infamous for their dirty tricks so the latest is not shocking. Erie County NY Sheriff’s detectives are reportedly close to making an arrest in the ballot tampering scandal at the Erie County Board of Elections.  A Democrat election clerk at the Erie County Board of Elections with close ties to the NY Democrat Party Chairman is emerging as the prime suspect in a ballot tampering case, in which about 15 absentee ballots were sent out with the name Republican Chris Collins already on them in the hopes of creating a scandal in which the Republican’s campaign would be accused of voter tampering.  The plan backfired when one of the marked ballots in an envelope came back unopened to the offices of the Board of Elections and a forensic investigation was conducted.  Just when you think that Democrats couldn’t reach much lower- by the way, good luck finding this story in the mainstream press.

-  Things are getting hot for Global Warming theorist.  Professor Judith Curry who is a leading member of Professor Richard Muller’s Berkeley Earth Surface Temperatures project team (BEST) has accused Muller of suppressing the project’s research data which show there has been no increase in world temperatures since the end of the Nineties – this information was confirmed by a new analysis that The Mail on Sunday has obtained. Prof Curry, distinguished climate researcher with more than 30 years experience and the second named co-author of the BEST project’s four research papers, said this affair had to be compared to the notorious ‘Climategate’ scandal two years ago.

In the news…

-  Those Democrat connections with Enron run deep.  Do you recall when Enron collapsed and the Democrats with the help of the liberal media tried to connect CEO Kenneth Lay with George Bush because they once met despite the fact that Enron had deep ties to the Clinton Administration which included his Energy Secretary Bill Richardson?  Well, Michelle Obama will be attending a private fundraiser with former Enron executive John Arnold at his home.  Democrats just can’t seem to stay away from those they demonize publicly, but privately party and plot.

- Those lovely Occupy Wall Street protestors who are demanding the rich give more seem to be a bit parsimonious themselves.  Volunteer kitchen staff launched a “counter” revolution yesterday — because they’re angry about working 18-hour days to provide food for “professional homeless” people and ex-cons masquerading as protesters. For three days beginning tomorrow, the cooks will serve only brown rice and other spartan grub instead of the usual menu of organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad.  They will also provide directions to local soup kitchens for the vagrants, criminals and other freeloaders who have been descending on Zuccotti Park in increasing numbers every day.  Maybe now they have a little taste of how the rich feel.

- And speaking of the Occupy Wall Street, as the press grows more concern over their violent behavior  the White House press secretary Jay Carney reacts to what he also calls violence at several “Occupy” protests across the country.  “As to the violence, we obviously believe and insist that everyone behave in a lawful manner. Even as they’re expressing, justifiably, their frustrations,” he said.

-  Another reason to eliminate union pensions. Eleven people, including two doctors and a former union president, were charged on Thursday in a “massive fraud scheme” in which hundreds of Long Island Rail Road (L.I.R.R.) workers made false disability pension claims that could have cost a federal pension agency about $1 billion, according to court papers and the New York Times.  Seven former railroad employees, the former union president, a former federal railroad pension agency employee, and one of the doctors (all accused of being co-conspirators) were arrested Thursday morning by F.B.I. agents and New York state investigators.

- Rep. Dennis Cardoza, a moderate Democrat from California, announced his retirement from Congress this afternoon — and he issued a scathing parting shot at President Obama’s track record on his way out.  In a statement explaining his decision, Cardoza, a leader of the centrist Blue Dog Coalition, said he was “dismayed” by the administration’s “failure to understand and effectively address the current housing foreclosure crisis…  Home foreclosures are destroying communities and crushing our economy, and the Administration’s inaction is infuriating,” Cardoza said.

-  Now you see it, now you don’t.  Thanks to CNBC, the Department of Energy has been caught removing references to “SunPower,” a solar energy company that was given $1.2 billion in loan guarantees, from old press releases.  “The changes occurred in two press releases from the Department of Energy’s loan guarantee program — the same program that has been the center of controversy surrounding the failed solar company Solyndra,” reports Eamon Javers of CNBC.  “Both were changed to remove the name of a company that has received negative press attention in recent days, SunPower, and replace it with the name of another company, NRG Energy,” he added.  Now that’s what we call Obama transparency.

-  We now know why the rich need to be taxed more. More than 2 million taxpayers – including some prisoners claiming students as dependents – apparently wrongly collected $3.2 billion in college tax credits last year, according to a report issued Thursday by a federal investigator.  The suspect credits represent more than a fifth of the $15.5 billion in college credits the report says went to nearly 8.9 million taxpayers through 2010.

-  Closing out his bus tour on a low-key note, President Obama made a pitch for his jobs package at a firehouse, where a subdued crowd needed a bit of prompting to applaud his proposal to boost the economy.  The president got a polite reception from the 100 or so people crowded into the station garage. Early in his speech he mentioned his American Jobs Act.  One or two people clapped.  “You can go ahead and clap,” the president said. “Go ahead, nothing wrong with it.”

-  The liberal media is sooooooo predictable….  It didn’t take the folks at MSNBC to infer that Herman Cain was in Uncle Tom.  Ed Schultz, host of MSNBC’s the Ed Show, believes that Cain is pandering to “white Republicans out there who don’t like black folks”.  Expect more of this should Herman Cain win the Republican Presidential nomination.

-  More problems for ObamaCare…The Obama administration says it is unable to go forward with a major program in the president’s signature health care overhaul law – a new long-term care insurance plan.  Officials said Friday the long-term care program has critical design flaws that can’t be fixed to make it financially self-sustaining.  Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told Congress in a letter that she does not see a viable path forward at this time. By law, implementation of the program was contingent on Sebelius certifying it financially sound.

-  Do you remember new jobs counted were those that were actually created?  Then came a new way of measuring jobs when Obama entered the stage, “saved or created”.  In attempting to advance the argument for Barack Obama’s new jobs stimulus plan, the White House has decided to create a new term that has even less meaning than their previous measure: job’s supported.

- Treasury Department officials testified Friday that they’ve never in their careers seen the government handle a loan quite like the Energy Department handled the $528 million in taxpayer dollars that was lent to failed solar firm Solyndra.  At a tense hearing on Capitol Hill, two Treasury officials acknowledged that the Obama administration’s restructuring of the loan earlier this year was unusual, if not unprecedented. Through that process, Solyndra investors, many of whom were Obama and Democrat donors, not taxpayers, were put at the front of the line for recovering money in case of bankruptcy.

-  Democrat Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. called for the president to bypass the Constitution to deal with the jobs crisis. During a Wednesday interview with The Daily Caller, Jackson said President Obama should “declare a national emergency” and use “extra-constitutional” measures to create jobs.  Need I say more.

- The Coast Guard is confirming Friday morning that one of its female officers in uniform was spit on an harassed while near the Occupy Boston protest.  “The woman was walking to the train and said protesters spit on her twice, called her foul names and even threw a water bottle at her,” MyFoxBoston.com reports.  Now, the Coast Guard is warning all staff working on Atlantic Avenue to avoid Occupy Boston protesters while in uniform.

Typically, I like to post a “what’s in the news today” blog, but today I simply want to post comments made by BET founder Robert Johnson.

BET founder Robert Johnson on the “FOX News Sunday” program: “Well, I think the president has to recalibrate his message. You don’t get people to like you by attacking them or demeaning their success. You know, I grew up in a family of 10 kids, first one to go to college, and I’ve earned my success. I’ve earned my right to fly private if I choose to do so.

“And by attacking me it is not going to convince me that I should take a bigger hit because I happen to be wealthy. You know, it is the old — I think Ted and Fred and I we both sort of take the old Ethel Merman approach to life. I’ve tried poor and I tried rich and I like rich better. It doesn’t mean that I am a bad guy.

“I didn’t go in to business to create a public policy success for either party, Republican or Democrat. I went in business to create jobs and opportunity, create opportunity, create value for myself and my investors. And that’s what the president should be praising, not demagoguing us simply because Warren Buffet says he pays more than his secretary. He should pay the secretary more and she will pay more.”
